My son is in cubscouts, and the pinewood derby is at the end of February, so we are designing and making his car. He requested a early thirties ford hotrod.

I love it too! Wood shavings are the best. I find however that it is missing a pencil sharpener, since at this stage, that's probably the tool making the shavings.

Hmm..
My grandfather was a carpenter...
Some very fond memories are waken up by this photo...
and as far as this part of the world is concerned, carpenters have no need for pencil sharpener in so vast array of wood shaping tools...

You both have great points! The shavings are actually from the bench top 'dog holes' which I just drilled out earlier in the day...

Well done for the reasons already mentioned.
Of course this would also look lovely in BW or sepia if you wanted to play.

Critique on the car...

The drawing shows a thin front end. Be careful not to make it too thin or the car will break.

Beautiful shot, frame that thing!!!

I would worry more about height of the nail for the wheels...
It seems that middle of the wheel is at the end or very close to the edge of the wood block...

THANKS GUYS! A word on the car design...the thin part in the design has proved to be strong enough, the wood is approximately 1/4 to 3/8 thick, which should stand up to the "abuse" of a few race heats. As for the wheel placement, as far as it seems, it is within boyscouts of America regulations...lol

I had recently purchased a Canon Pro-100 printer, and have already printed it at 11x14, now to find a place to hang it....
