My copy of CS4 arrived last night :D and after spending the better part of an hour purging all of the old versions, and installing the new on, I've had time to take it for a very brief test-drive, and all I can say is, "Wow"!!! My experience with most software has always been that the changes between one version and another are usually not all that dramatic. Sure, there are a couple of neat new features introduced, but most office the "updates" take the shape of a new appearance, which really doesn't do much to the overall functionality of the image (Can anyone say MS Office 2007?). NOT the case with CS4.

While I've not even had time to scratch the surface, the things that I have looked at tell me that this purchase was worth every cent, and will make a big difference to my post-production work. To start with the new 'Adjustments' dialogue which appears by default to the right of the image workspace is amazing. This is going to make using adjustment layers a breeze (when I get all the features figured out) and the new 'Smart sharpen' command is a big improvement.

I'm sure there are hundreds of other features of which I'm not even yet aware, but at this point, while I may be broke, I'm :goodvibes: !!

I'm thinking about getting PS to make life easier. I was saving up for a camera but I think I might get PS right now seeing how if I got the camera, I'd have no software to edit RAW images with :p Was just wondering last night if I should get it or not, it would set me back about $300 :(

if you can get it for 300 - i would MOST defiantly get it... in the long run you would save a lotttttttttttttttttttttt of money - you can always get a camera - but PS is so expensive, that you would be really happy getting it at that price!

VERY cool - I have not tried CS4 yet but I expect to within a few weeks.

If there are more tips to share about cs4 then maybe this would be a good thread to do it in.

many thx for the review T.I.!

I recently went from 7.0 to CS2. Must be nice to be using CS4. Hope you're enjoying it.

"In awe" might be a better phrase; I've got about six hours of video just on the new features to watch. Of course there are also significan improvements in Bridge and Camera Raw as well.
