What Lens for Flower Pics

I haven't really done much in the way of flower pics. As a result I'm certainly inexperienced in doing these type of images.
Do do have any suggestions on choice of lens' that I may use. I'm thinking of the 100 Macro (I will rent one if it makes sense) or perhaps I can use my 50 f1.4.. Also, I believe a lot of flower photographers use off camera flash, however it must be two years since I've used my flash. So flash photography I would be inexperienced and rusty.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Will you be able to use a tripod? If so a cable release and a reflector of some sort - even just a piece of white foam board would work. I would definitely take the macro lens, and the 50 as well.

Thanks for the suggestion JAS. I didn't think think about a reflector. Also not sure if the 60 macro would be better than the 100. What do you think. Remember I have a cropped sensor.

I guess it is up to your own preference but the 100 lets you photograph from a bit more distance.

Went with the 100 macro. It seemed to work well. If there was any problem it was with the photographer. We did get a little flack for using tripods but that was probably because there were about 25 of us. So with the extra crowding it made it a bit worse. I suspect on my own I wouldn't have any problem. I didn't need a reflector as it was cloudy and snowing so the sky (and falling snow) was a giant soft box.
