Composition critiques

I am totally brand-new to photography (beyond tourist point-and-shoot), so I just want to see if I'm on the right track here.

My primary concern is composition; are these photos interesting to you? Is there something different I could look for in terms of framing or focal points?

Welcome to the forum amyliv !
You're on the right track imo, but improvements can always be made - usually by zeroing in on every single thing (including the edge itself) that is located inside your frame. Do this before pressing the button.

The best critiques will come when 1 image is posted per thread but really quickly here goes - JMO of course;

1 - Interesting angle overall - Top edge was important here as a framing element, and the words - we want to see them -we want to see all that steel on top. That bottom edge is nice and chunky and a top edge of similar chunk would have made the frame much stronger - and this image in that case would likely have been my fave of the set.
Also Watch where brightness falls in the image because the eye always wanders toward brightness.
2 - I find the forms of the wheel and color leaves distracting overall - The wheel and shadow are interesting but i think you could have hunted for a stronger angle to remove distractions.
3 - I like this for the linear repetition but the flat lighting isn't helping imo.
4- On the right track, Strongest image of the set. - My eye is well guided here. See how 'clean' this image is compared to the other 3.

Yes, #3 is a busy image.
The rest do look interesting to me. I can see lines and the rule of thirds in use.
