I set my wife up with Lightroom to edit some scanned photos for a book she is putting together for her mom's 80th birthday. So she went about touching them all up to the best of her abilities which really isn't too bad; I was assigned the tough ones of course. She then started doing a mock paste-up in Word so she could see how they would fit in with the text. I assumed everything was going great. Today I came home from work to her complaining that Lightroom wouldn't export many of her photos for the real paste-up. Well she had taken the photos out of their original folders moved them all over the place, renamed them so of course Lightroom has no idea where they are. I guess I should blame myself for not telling her to export the photos before she did the mock-up. Remember not everyone understands a database.

Can't you do the book paste up in LR as well? I don't actually use the book module, so not sure how useful it is. But if you have photos and text to put together, InDesign is a godsend. I have it installed at work so get a free copy for my use at home. I realize it is not for everyone but if you do that kind of project it sure makes life easier.

She is a writer so her toy is Word. She just has to relocate all the files and link them again and life will be good. In the end the printer has a tool that she should have been using in the first place to do the layout. She forgot I have the complete Adobe suite. Life goes on it was just a little frustrating having to show her how to restore everything. Now she knows how it should be done.
