Hi, name's Matt.
I've been involved in photography for about 15 years, but always had a terrible/misguided approach to the entire profession/hobby.
I helped with a community newspaper for a while and got really tired of the "everyone please squeeze in closer, a little closer, now just a little closer... okay hold it and everybody smile for the camera" type of photography. If it wasn't that, then i was getting roped into shooting friends' events, or cheap weddings for strangers.
I was always on the go and any time spent with a camera in my hands was usually spent "working", rather than honing my skills/abilities or learning the quirks of my equipment. My images were flat, discoloured, devoid of feeling. It bugged me and eventually i just set my cameras down for a couple years.
Now, I'm looking to get involved again, but only for myself and only for the joy of learning and experimenting. I'm just here to read and creep and learn. Thanks in advance for the help and tips I know i'll pick up.
Cheers,
Matt
