Another composition question

I was to busy trying to keep the frame clean on the right and now I'm worried that I'm once again having one of my main cross points to far to the edge. I wish I worked this shot a little more and had alternative angles. What are your thoughts on how this photograph is framed

Also what is the shot about is a good question to ask, and do all the elements in the shot work to support it?

If you are not sure what the shot is about, you have work to do and you should not press the shutter.

In this case there are too many competing elements (bright sun in sky, its reflection in the water, the lighthouse, boat on edge, expanse of water at left) for my eye.

I already added the podcast link on edges (http://www.photography.ca/blog/2014/02/20/the-edges-of-your-photographs/) in the last thread as well and at just 12ish minutes, I recommend a listen once again.
Edges are very important. Be very deliberate with what you place on them or near them.

The reflection of the sun in the water nearly divides the image in half. You should have stepped to your right to make the reflection a little closer to the boat and than placed the boat on the right side rule of thirds line. One of the BEST advice I have ever received from Marko on this forum, try and capture 100% of your shot, don't shoot thinking "I can crop it later!" I have gone from cropping a minimum 25% out of each of my images, to nearly zero crop to no more than 10% loss due to crop (the wedding I just shot is an exception, those babies are CROPPED!!!)

I need to practice what I preach, but get yourself a cardboard cutout that is cut to the ratio you shoot at. So, if you shoot at 3:2 ratio, cut it out 8x12. Use this to frame your shot before placing the camera to your face. (I believe you can buy those cutouts on eBay, camera shops, etc)

What size was this image when you uploaded it to the forum, because it seems soft? The forum's software resizes any images that are uploaded and are above a certain size, compressing the image, making it soft.

Here's my crop which makes the elements in the image work a bit better I believe.
Still for the future - watch those edges :)
Also images directly uploaded on our forum should be 1028 (this was 1029) pixels in width or smaller and less than 330K
(Mine are usually 1000 px at about 250-300k)
