So ... anyone thought of a subject for March yet? http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/hmm.gif
I haven't looked at previous assignments much but here's a few ideas ...
Happy
Wood
Texture
Freedom
Strength
Sound
http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/cop.gif Heeeeeeey cooooome on! Don't make me make all the suggestions. Mine could be crap. http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/help.gif
You lot throw in some ideas here as well http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/searchme.gif
It's easy ... just give it some http://www.mtbdirt.com.au/home/smf/Smileys/classic/thinkerg.gif
which assignment, MA?
never mind.
my vote is for... something green. photograph something green. ya, that's it. that's the ticket.
Although I like the green theme - up here in Canada, in March everything outdoorsy will still be white...or ugly melting white.....
Here's a tricky one...
Wind. March is known (at least in Canada) to be a windy month. Not sure how to take a photo of the wind but I suspect that's what would make it challenging.

that is a great idea Igs!!!
Wind sounds fine to me
Wind in March for me means windchill of -40!!!!!
LOL..I'm in but it's not going to be pretty :p
Windchill was -34 here today but I think I got a photo for the wind theme.
can these be old photos? or are they something new taken for this?
can these be old photos? or are they something new taken for this?
The idea of an assignment is to go out and take a photo specifically for this.
Seeing as Marko hasn't yet officially sanctioned a theme for March yet there are no photos in existence that really qualify.
In the end though it's up to you. If you want to challenge yourself then wait and take ... if you want to just take a quick way out then post an old photo.
Good God Raiven ... -34!! I think the windchill here is about +34 here today.
i woke up to -37. barf-o-rama.
if it stays this cold out, my 'wind' pic will likely be an oldie...

You don't have windows?
I figured thats the way it was. I have some really good wind pictures I was going to share, but will hold off on them. I like the idea of a challenge anyways.

Ha ha ha ha

You learn more by doing
Hey Kat ... set the camera up by the window on 10 sec timer ... then toss the cat out the front door. With some luck and good timing I'm sure you could get a great 'wind' shot as the frozen feline flashes fast past the frame!!!
Hmm..I was thinking more along the lines of cracking an egg and taking photos of it's progress to see how long it takes to freeze..then put up the start middle and end with times..ha ha..with your heat..you can fry yours :P
Seriously..I've been thinking. It may take a week or two but I'll come up with something!!!! Although I should probably wait till we have the topic..ha ha
You don't have windows?
naw, we dont believe in windows this far north in canada... glass is just too precious a commodity. deer hide blankets and eskimos kisses are the only thing to keep a person warm.

You have only deer hides for windows but you have high speed internet ... way to set to your priorities there Kiley
So Marko .... is WIND the official theme for March then?
I also think wind is a great and challenging theme.
anyone else?
thx

Ok members,
The suggestion posts have been merged and the theme for this month is WIND. Thanks to Iggy for this particular suggestion; there were many good ones!

Took this photo a couple of days ago. It was minus 31. I had mitts on over my gloves. I guess that is a testament to the handlability (<< made up word) of Nikon's cameras.
This is a fun subject. Here is crop of another photo for detail.

OOOH - u guys n gals are fast. Nice shots Raiven!
and greg - go to town - there is no limit unless you crash the server ;)
Well..I don't know when the next windy day is going to be and if I'll get out.
I thought of this shot while getting ready this morning..my only source of warm wind until the summer :D
Until I can get out and get a true blue "wind" shot this will have to do.

And it does quite nicely!
Now, I've made the suggestion and with today being a day of freezing rain I'll have to wait to get out and find some wind I don't mind standing in to take a photo!

Hey good start to the monthly assignment girls.
Raiven has found a shot with a heap of Raiven's in it ... cool.
And self portraits of Kat are always going to be pleasing.
Hey Kat ... I'm sure that hair dryer isn't the only source of hot air around. Try having more beans and cabbage for dinner ;)

Yeh I got sick of jumping up off the floor and re-pressing the shutter button and diving back into position to take that self P yesterday. But wireless remotes are expensive for the Canon 40D if you don't want a hotshoe version.
I'm not to sure how much one would cost for me. Probably not that much..lol. But definately worth it at times! Specially when 5 secs might not be long enough but 10 takes forever!!! Ha ha ha!

Hi everyone! I am new to this forum....I truly enjoy every art of photography, and an assignment gives me a reason to walk around with my camera. :)
I enjoyed reading through the past assignments, and looking at the photos. You all are all so talented.
I would like to submit my assignment for March! It was quite windy here in California the other afternoon.

Now that youve said something I will work on this shot a little more. Its kind of difficult driving, with a dog on your lap, camera in your hand, and trying to compose a picture. I just wanted a decent shot with her ears flying in the wind, but didnt realize the mirror would pick her up until I started looking at them. Now all I have to do is, drive, with a dog in my lap, camera in hand, composing the camera, and adjusting the mirrors! :lightbulb:(
She isnt exactly clear but its better than the other.

This is a tracking shot of the Hurricane. I mis-read this when I commented somewhere else in the foru mthis morning thinking it was closer than it was. The red section is it's current location ... the southern most grey section is it's predicted position in a couple of days time and it's weakening they think.

The town of Tewantin is about 200 km's north of where I am. The coastline does kinda cut back in from there though so the Hurricane might continue it's current path and therefore not get too close to us here. Most of my family is on the Sunshine Coast though which is the area from Tewantin south for about 100 kms.
Kind of off topic but still 'Wind' related

A variation on my 1st attempt at wind, this one has a little Turtle Dove in it for interest and the Hurricane although not likely to get too near us now has provided more movement in the trees.

Almost. When you copy from Photo Bucket it already puts the [ IMG] [/IMG ] tags in so you don't need to use the 'insert image' icon here. Just paste it in and it's done. That's why you got the extra [ IMG] and [/ IMG] before and after. ;)

Last weekend, when I went out driving around with the family, I tried to make it a point to takes some pictures in for this subject. I also tried to make a conscience effort to stay out of program mode. My pre-viz skills are very lacking and need more practice, but I did get a few images that I thought fit the subject.
They are pretty cliched. I need to do more out-of -the-box thinking, I think. Sure is harder than it looks.

Those are from the ferry ride from Fort Fisher to Southport, although I have been on the Cherry Point-Minnisott ferry too, just no gulls pics from there.

Nice effect! ;)
I'd add something nice about the dress seeing as I know how much went into it ... but the only thing I remember about the wedding dress was how to get off LeAngel on our wedding night ;)
