In a field that was just freshly baled we saw a multitude of Swainson's Hawks sunbathing in the eveing sun. This is the closest I could get to one before he took off. Always wanted to shoot one sitting on a bale. This was eay here, since there must have been over 30 hanging around. I suppose a freshly cut and baled field makes for good eatin' ....

The bale does make a nice perch. Nice and sharp and good control of light & shadow.

They are beautiful creatures and that soft evening sun does him justice Matt :thumbup: This time next week I will be in the prairies again...Hope I can catch one of these!

Well if yer here, let me know, I might be able to squeeze a day in .... the Canmore folk festival will start this coming Saturday, so I am going there for three/four days ... however ... I'd love to raise a glass with you at the "last chance saloon" ....
