River Banks Zoo

It was sunny and 75º here today, so I packed my mess and headed to Riverbanks Zoo. We sprang for the family membership back in July and I haven’t been back since. There were four new lion cubs there at the time that the members of the camera club were getting some good shots of, so I wanted to try my hand. As luck would have it, they wouldn’t cooperate that day. Maybe at temps close to 105º it was too hot because I never even got a glimpse of them.

I was thinking that maybe after the severe cold snap we had last week that the warm day might bring some of the critters to life and I wanted to be there if it did. I’m happy to say I got some pretty good shots of everything but the tigers.

I’ll post one tonight, and then a few more as the days go by.

75 degrees F - what a bum! It's been around 1-3 degrees F for the past week.

This shot is super cute. Love the glaze of water on the animal's forehead and the whiskers!

Last time I went to the zoo I was so upset..didn't get one good shot. Most animals were away hiding!!!

I have to wonder what’s going on in there. It’s said that an elephant never forgets.

To me, they are the most intriguing creatures in the captive habitat. They will stand and watch you far as long as you are willing to stand there and watch them.

The Botanical Gardens at Riverbanks offers the opportunity to experience visual overload. This piece hangs on a wall near the entrance to the gardens.
