View Full Version : How does that goose fly?

I caught the fist time my daughter saw a Canadian Goose flying over head in the photo below. I thought a black and white version would draw the viewers attention more to her face rather than her colorful jacket and hat. I debated cropping some off of the right side but then her face seemed to far to the right. If anyone has suggestions on something that could be improved please share.

This works great, the balance is very nice and cropping wouldn't work too good. Also the BW works really good too.

The face is really what draws the eye - what an expression! Good catch, and I'll leave technical details to others.

I like the comp here and the moment you caught.
In terms of additional PP - contrast seems a bit flat at the right part of the image so I might boost the contrast (just a nit) on the right side and keep the left as is.
I also might burn the clouds and additional 5-10% and i might dodge the face 5-10%
Hope that may help.

Thanks for the comments. I already had her face dodged and the clouds burned some in Lightroom so I increased them a little. I am gussing my monitor is bighter than it should be. I have noticed when making prints that they look darker than I think they should be. My next purchase will have to be one of those calibration tools. Although I am not sure if they adjust brightness or just check the color. I could see when I added some contrast it how it improved the right side of the photo. I also added some clarity to the hat and coat which seemed to make those stand out a bit. Thank you for the suggestions Marko.
