Something I staged and worked on. It has more meaning than I had originally anticipated. Critique I guess.

The king is entrapped with his queen. The queen must either step in front of her husband, this would eliminate her. It portrays the love of the king and queen in a way that is simply profound. I really had no idea it could mean so much. Also, their is a reference to christ in the picture I had not even anticipated.

Hate to tell you this but that's check mate not check. The rook has the king covered from heads on. This is impossible because the king would have been covered by one of the two pieces already, in check from the move before.

It's a great image tho, but any chess player will tell you that is an impossible checkmate.

To make it legit, you need to put a pawn or knight (any color) in front of the king.

The idea is a cool one but IMO and this is only my opinion, the photo needs a lot of clean up. I am not sure if this is a regular chess board but if it is, it needs to moved so that I can not see extraneous things in the shot. I am not sure what all is there but I see floorboards and furniture it looks like? If you can not move it then some white foam board might be put in place to clean up the background. That black piece (pawn?) is the sharpest piece in the shot. Is that intentional? The way some of the black pieces are arranged are more of a distraction then a help to the photo as well. I am not keen on the distortion on the edges but that may just be my own preference then a real problem. I like the crosswise aspect of your camera angle. That is very effective. Generally, the shot just needs a lot of cleanup. Sorry to give you such a bad review on just your second post. Don't let that deter you from posting, please! Here is something from 500 px that has a similar theme as yours but is beautifully executed.
