Need some tips on food photography

I am starting a small food processing business and would like to use the actual pictures of my own products for the labels.

Any tips on food photography to make it look delicious and realistic?

Next product I want to shoot are bread and butter pickles

Hire a good food stylist.

Yup, but it involves learning the basics of exposure and composition first....only then can you move onto a speciality like food photography - which is hard and time consuming to do well.

Like I read on the internet to use white plates?

My camera is all automatic...can I use exposure with a Canon A810?

Thanks for the advice guys, I gave it a shot with a tripod and a black mouse pad with white PVC, just testing it out but seems like that little Canon A810 on everything automatic seems to work good enough for me.

I can improve for sure, but that was only a few minutes of trying ;)

I would say if there's a valuable thing to learn I would read about lighting. I don't have any specific references, but I'm sure there's a bunch on the internet.
