F/A 18 'Hornet'

Australia's number 1 jet fighter aircraft is the F/A 18 Hornet.
I took these shots at the Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar race in Oct. It was tough with all the trees around.

The cool thing was that the pilot in these photos contacted me a day or two after posting them on Flickr to compliment me on the photos and ask if he could get some copies. After verifying it was really him I sent him some.

What an interesting catch shot 1 is, it is my fave of the set.

Well caught. The speed at which they fly over make them difficult to photograph (particularly with a long lens). Well done

It's always amusing to watch, like in number 2, when they reach the sound barrier and the fog builds up.

Realist, although the fog does often occur as a jet breaks the sound barrier, in this case he wasn't that fast. I think the fog is caused by the pressure difference as the air passes over the aircrafts surfaces.
