Someone has asked to purchase a print of this photo: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8487/8151298929_d8d41f1863_b.jpg
I have no idea what's appropriate to charge.

Based on this site: Tall Ships Photos for Sale (http://fineartamerica.com/art/photographs/tall+ships/all) I think you could ask for around $35 - $40 for an 8x12 print.... that's the commodity price and then you have to decide how much your skills are worth and whether or not you'd put it in a frame, etc. I think Marko mentioned some pricing a way back in response to someone else's question so you might do a bit of a search for his opinion if he doesn't chime in.

Personally.....if I have to custom print the shot out myself (or even leave my place to go have it printed).... given the quality of just the materials I use...that's just too much work for 35.00-40.00. I'd sooner give it away for free than sell it at that price.
That said, for some people, just selling a print at any price warms their heart enough to sell it cheaply
There is no right answer to this question.....the only thing i will say is that the 2 billion new unskilled 'photographers' (read camera owners) have brought the value of photography way way way down.
Hope that may help
