The 4th Annual Photography.ca Photo Swap

Wow! Another year has gone by and it's time for the photography.ca photo swap again.

kat started us off three years ago with this activity and I liked the idea so much that I've been making sure we remember it each year after that.

Here's how it works. Everyone and anyone who is interested will put their name in the virtual hat by saying "I want to swap!" in this thread. On November 18th I'll stir up all the names in the hat and pull out photo swappers. Each member who joins in will receive the name and address of another member to which they are to send a print (8x10 or 8x12). In previous years we chose a photograph that we felt was our best image of the year or a photograph that had a special meaning for us in some other way. I say we continue with that choice of theme but I'm always open for new ideas.

So, who's up for a photo swap??

I'll start out: "I want to swap!" Who will be the first to join me?

Q1: Is this open to international members?
A1: Absolutely, everyone is welcome to join in.

Q2: Do I post my address here?
A2: Nope! Only give your mailing address to the individual that is selected to send you a print.

In previous years we chose a photograph that we felt was our best image of the year or a photograph that had a special meaning for us in some other way.

I say we continue with that theme.
Personally I never know what my 'best' image is but I do know which ones are 'stronger' or have special meanings so I will go with that.

Ha! Ha! You do have some beautiful recent shots of your kids but getting a framed photo of them might bring up some awkward questions. :headslap:

First off, thanks to the big Iguana for running the show!

Now to business....has anyone heard from Alex Davydov? I gave him a couple of days after the announcement to contact me with his addy, but he never did, so I sent him a message, but I have not gotten a reply....
It kinda works out, because I went to make his print and found out two of my toners are almost empty, so replacements are on the way.....

Hey Justin! I just got yours printed. It was a bit of an odyssey getting the Canon pro9500 running and printing. Had to replace most of the ink, get it aligned and working properly with the imac but am finally happy with it. I wish it took toner cartridges. Sheesh... Anyway, I will get it mail today or tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity, what have people gotten? Inquiring minds want to know. :laughing: I just received mine from ewaizel. It's a beautiful print of the photo in the thread titled http://www.photography.ca/Forums/show-your-photo-color-landscape-nature-flowers-mountains-storms-etc/19186-force-suspension.html. The colors and waves are stunning. He also sent a smaller copy of it, and a print of the closeup of goatsbeard seeds (I think) he did earlier (haven't run down than thread).

Wow, I'm blown away with the picture I got from MBrager. It's a picture of the new Peace Bridge in Calgary with the city towers in the background. Not only did he send me a large print (larger than 11x14) but mounted it in matting. I couldn't believe the package when it arrived (must have been at least 2ft x 3ft). I was thinking... that's an aweful large package for an 8x10 photo.

Cheers Mike. I've now got to look for a nice frame and hang it up in my office at work.

I thought as a resident of the prairies you might enjoy a view of the ocean. I also thought it was fun to print large. I'm glad you like it.
