Well so far I think they may be right; this one is in Sparwood, British Columbia. Sparwood is a mining town (coal), and this truck was used to bring the coal down the mountain.

But since it was going around n circles, I think they had to retire it ...

That's big alright! If I owned it I'd probably say it was the biggest cos I know that hardly anyone carries a tape measure full time so who's to argue? I just love the Pininfarina coachwork. Having the people in the shot sure helps one get an overall sense of its size.

There's a Michelin plant not far from me where they make the tires for monsters like this and I see them being hauled on the interstate almost every day. I've worked in surface mines where they use trucks like this one, just a little newer.

Yeah, this one has been sitting there for a while .. I have not seen how big the truck in the oilsands are, but i would assume they are quite hefty as well....
