I'm kind of on the fence with this one. Welcome any C&C.

Why would you be on the fence with it? I am not sure what kind of window this is, but judging by the ironwork it appears to me as a window designed to hold people inside, and not let them out. I think the image conveys very strong feelings: isolation, hopelessness, aging .... I like it.

Thanks Matt for your kind comments. I think I was worried that it was too simplistic, one window on a big wall. Mind you I did think that the grungy wall fit with the old iron bar window.

Interesting,I like the image overall though I might have placed that window a bit more traditionally to the right or left. Opening up the shadows on left side might make this sing even louder.

Thanks Marko. I've moved the window to the to the top right third lines intersection and evened out the lighting on the wall as per your suggestion. Even though it was almost black and white anyway, I converted it to B&W and this improves it a bit.

Thanks Vyeko. Do you like the color version better because of the blue tinge, or do you like the composition better.

That blue color is really special here with gray tones. For me both composition works.First one because of symmetry and here window dominated over all image. On second one window break symmetry and all image is more balanced.Hope you will understand what I like to say.Hard for me to find proper words.

Thanks Vyeko. I do understand what you are saying. In the first one I did lower the colour temperature to give it that siight blue tinge. Thought it added to the mood a bit.
I do like the B&W version in Lightroom though. It looks much better within Lightroom than it does after being exported as a jpeg and posted. It seems to have lost lost something from the export/post.
As for the composition I still like both of them. I like the first one for the symmetry, but also like the second one with the window in the traditional thirds spot. I think I need some time for one or the other to grow on me.

The wall and window go together well......kinda hints at something dark. Like the b/w here.

Well, just goes to show you, everyone has a different opinion... I prefer the first one for composition it just feels better to me in the centre. I also generally prefer colour to B&W but there is such little colour here that I'm not sure it matters. In any event, you found the window interesting enough to take the shot. Why is it making you sit on the fence? That's a more interesting question to me. What is it about the image that is different from when you were there?
