Photo Life used this idea for their Dec/Jan issue. I wonder if anyone would like to try it?
Five members submit a photo that has not been edited. Then the five photographers each edit the five photos (including their own ) and post the results. It does not have to be 5 but that seems like a reasonable number to start with. Anyone interested in this challenge? I think it would be a good exercise to try both in respect to how we see things and how others might see it. So...any takers? If 8 or 10 show up we can have two separate groups doing their own thing etc.

I think we could each p.m. a link to the full size image on flickr or any other site that we may use to the other four players on the team, once a team has been determined. Say a one week deadline to p.m after which is a one week deadline to post our five photos each in a results type thread. The photos in that thread being say a maximum of 900 px on the longest side? I could also post the five unretouched photos in the results thread in that size so everyone can see what the challenge is. Make sense?

Oh I like this idea! If you "need" a fifth it will be my pleasure, but if there are 5+ without me - I'll watch from the sidelines as I'm insanely swamped with tasks this month.
So come on people...save me :)

01-04-2012, 11:38 AM
Rapidshare is just like Flickr, but you store files instead of photos. This way, you can up load the full image file in raw and just post a link. The others just download it from rapidshare. It's free.

Ok, I created a rapidshare account and uploaded a file to it. Can everyone handle a Nef file with their software? It is Nikon's raw format. Apparently the link takes you to rapid share and the middle balloon has a download arrow indicating where you click to download the file to load the it directly to the computer. I will message that link to all the participants and also post a smaller version here. I will post a smaller jpg of the photo so everyone can see what we are working with. I will do the same for all files so everyone can see our starting point. Sound good? No worries, Bambi, it will take a couple of weeks I am sure to get this all done anyway. :)
P.S. let me know if it works for you. The download that is. :)
P.P.S I would recommend that we each post all of our finished photos at one time, with the original photographer's name below each photo, so one person's work is altogether otherwise it could get confusing to the viewers. :)

Ok cool, Bambi! Tiger, Nikon has a free codex that allows you to see NEF files on your computer. I use Photoshop Elements and Lightroom so I can convert most any camera's file.

I think sticking to one thread will be fine. When we are each ready to post results we can post all 5 photos that we edited at once with the photographer who took the photo's name underneath each photo.
Susan, I have the same problem. Luckily my camera and lenses are pretty good at compensating for my lack of sharp eyesight.
