Presently I have a nikon D300. I am thinking of upgrading to the 700. However only 2 of my lenses will work well with the full frame camera and they are specialty lenses.
Is it the upgrade worth the extra $ I would have to spend on the body and new lenses?

What missing from the D300 (a very good and pretty new model that is getting very good reviews) that you feel you need to change?

Probably not worth your while at the moment.
I only upgraded to a D700 myself because Id been using my Fuji S3 for 2 and a half years and it wasnt cutting it anymore (and Fuji dropped out of the DSLR market).
I had to buy a new lens to go with it, the 24-70mm f2.8 as my old ones were DX glass too. I can however still use my Tokina 11-16mm up at the 15/16mm range and I have a clunker of an 80-200mm f2.8 too.
You could however batch everything up or sell your gear individually, someone might have some Xmas money burning a hole in their pocket out there that might want a deal on a D300 and lenses.

Now I'd confused.
This post says you upgraded - last post says you want to upgrade

It wasn't me that upgraded but Rikki.
I am taking your advice to stick with my D300.

In the meantime, you may want to slowly convert your lens collection to full frame so you can go either way without penalty.

+1 Buying DX glass is a waste unless you need something specific (eg the Nikon 10.5). Eventually I think we'll see the DSLR market being all, or nearly all "full" frame bodies. Start preparing early!

I see the point about buying lenses that will be compatible with full frame cameras.
I also noted that not many are VR. Does anyone know if this will change in the near future or is there some technical problem here of which I am not aware?
