Another name is Nankeen Kestrel.

We went to a small Raptor Flight Show which was fantastic!

Seems like a very proud bird. That first shot with him "standing tall" and chest all puffed out is very cool.

Well I thought this was a male myself, but I'm sure I heard the handler say she was female. Looking in my book there doesn't appear to be much difference other the male being a bit darker.
