With "The Rhein II " selling for $4.3 million, I thought it might be interesting to take a look at Andreas Gursky.

I watch this video with fascination to find the answer to the question of how a photograph came to be so valuable. Not that I'm going to reach that level, but one can dream. It's a fascinating piece on what the photographer Gursky does and how he does it, and the journalist/essayist is really an admirer of the art, who tries to imitate the artist, thereby clarifying the artistic elements. Thanks for sharing the link.

I have to say that when I saw the photo although it is nice I just don't see the $$$$. Maybe I just don't appreciate the finer things in life.

When I first saw "The Rhein II" I wasn't blown away with awe, however the video does go a long way in explaining the whole process, I think some time the message is lost in the presentation, these pieces are supposed to be seen large, not as small jpegs on the internet.
