Well question that I have is: how can you embed copyright information into your digital image so that after you save it, no one can change it after?

I did hear that some DSLR cameras have this option, but can you do this in your PC after the photograph is taken.

Any one has any ideas? :lightbulb

Not exactly sure what you are talking about.

You can do this in a graphics program so that the copyright info shows on your image...just use a type layer....but I think you are asking about something else right?

Hello Marko,
Yes, What I mean is being able to enter your name in the information area of your image file, but in the way that once you do it and save the file, no one would be able to change it on you, just like the information like camera used, shutter speed, aperture, etc., that your camera saves once you press the shutter button, can not be changed after.
In photoshop you can enter all kind of information in your file info area but it can be changed over and over using photoshop.

I think this would be a very good way to prevent image theft.

Thanks Artur

Maybe you are thinking of the EXIF (Exchangeable image file format) data in a file. Copyright and other data can be placed in that -- BUT it's easy to remove.

That is what I mean, but is there any way to make this information permanent?

Oh that's what you're talking about....yup as far as i know it's easy to remove. You are better off using a type layer or semi opaque layer embedded into the actual photo. THAT's harder to remove.

There is no way to do this if you want to show high quality versions of your image. Make sure you use 72 dpi so that they cannot be printed well.

You cannot really imbed information into a file. If someone has Photo editing software they can just open it and save as - then its gone.

Thanks for your replies, I did not think that it is possible, but it would be something worth looking into, where all camera manufacturers would give you a custom field where you could enter your name so it will be saved with the file permanently.:D

You could create watermarks. You could create a small almost transparent initial and drop it into the image - hidden.
