I like everything (colour, contrast, exposure, composition) about these 2 images except the fact that they are both soft. Why are they soft?

Thanks for the positive comments. Not sure what has happened here re the sharpness. The prints I did were ok.Perhaps I need my eyes tested! Obviously sharpness is a given, so I need to go back at look at what I did.

EJC - they are HDR images although I have tried not to overcook the processing too much - hopefully I haven't.
