Both of these are very well done IMO. :highfive:

Shot1 - I love the casual pose. To improve I might darken the edges a wee bit and burn in the boys left arm a bit.

Shot 2 is very striking with those huge baby blues. I might burn the blanket (The part that looks like a 'cape' behind the baby) slightly. But it's a wow shot.

Wow, you are good... LOL, it was Window light... and I did have the Mom hold my reflector to camera left... the blanket is actually a curtain... LOL! I have become quite adept at improvising... :)

The shot of the boy in the cute pose could have used a bit more of that reflector in his eyes since you were using one. (for next time)

As an aside, it's pretty easy to see what lights were used in most portrait shots if you look into the eyes. Take the baby's eyes. You see that big window in the baby's eyes. That's a very good indication that window light was used. ;):)

i agree - very good photos!
the 2nd image is so strong, it maybe overtakes from the 1st.
i think the 1st one is really good, one of the times the rule breaking has had a good effect (that rule being the out of focus foreground). if this were my shot, i maybe would try to clone out the foot directly behind his head.
the 2nd shot is fabulous - i love the expression & of course, the eyes! nice softening of the image as well. i think i can even see you in the window reflection.... :)

Top-notch work! My only comments are (1) A little over-bright on his left arm, and (2) I think the catchlights are just a little too much. You've got beautiful light and focus, but the reflection of the window is just too distracting for me.

I agree.... there is too much information in the reflection on shot #2... otherwise these are really well done...

I tried cloning the detail in the reflection to make it uniform.. then cloned to shape the reflection a little smaller.... then softened the adjustment to make look less obvious.... however, things became a little pixelated do to file size and adjustment intensity... anyways... more could be done with the Raw...

thanks again for the comments; like Tirediron and Travis, I too found the catchlights too distracting, but the Mom was looking at "Parents" magazine and in many of the cover shots, the catch lights were so defined you could actually see the photographer and the "studio" in them LOL! She loved it! LOL!

A few months back there was a toddler on the cover of Today's Parent magazine... he was dressed up like a little punk and had sunglasses on..... one of the sunglass lenses showed a clear reflection of the umbrella and it covered about 2/3rd's the area... i can't believe this made the cover...

I disagree on the catchlights and version 2 is too strange IMO.
I much prefer the original with the strong catchlights. JMO
