Here are some startrails - my 3rd attempt!! I think i really need to get a wide angle lens (wider than 22mm).

Very cool. They're getting better every time. Too bad about that streak through the middle? Is that a plane do you think?

Also, did you get my link in a previous post for the Clear Sky Chart? If so, has it been useful?

Thanks for the chart! - I did look at the Clear Sky Chart for Vancouver (that's where I live :), and it looked very easy to use. However, i did struggle with it a bit because of my limited knowledge of star mapping and familiarity with constellations. More reading for me for the summer!! Observing planets and stars facinated me when I was young, and I am going to pick that up again for sure.

At my latitude of 49 degrees, i incorrectly assumed that the attitude of Polaris was also 49 degrees, forgetting to take into account that earth is not a perfect sphere. It seems more like 65 degrees based on the attitude of my camera.

The streak in the middle is an aircraft. I could take it out very easily from one of the images in the stack (there was another comment about that earlier as well). We live very close to the airport.

Thanks!

but darn - too late - i took out the aircraft streak.

Hard to say which one I like better. I'll keep both for now!

Excellent star trail :) I like them both! The streak adds another element of interest IMO. You sometimes catch shooting stars in these shots which also looks great IMO.

I also think this is your best one to date thoughton and I really dig it! Personally I like streak-free better, but the streaked one does add variety imo.

I like both of them, and the one with the streak looks more abstract, more arty.
