Hi, belinda. Welcome to the forum! Judging from this image you have a very nice new lens there. The detail is wonderful and the colour is lovely. I like the black background as well. My only nitpicky thing would be that it would have been good to have the entire bud in focus so I feel like the depth of field could have been larger and you could have focused on the part of the bud that was closest to the camera.

Looks okay to me Belinda! I'm not sure I agree with Iggy about the focus (sorry Iggy :P) it looks pretty good to me. My only suggestion would be that it seems a little underexposed.

I quite like this shot and don't mind the focus.
The shot does look way underexposed on my monitor though. Up the contrast and you should be fine.

Looks nice to me.Needs a bit of contrast and maybe brighten it up a tad.

With a macro lens like that you won't get the whole bud in focus so it's important to choose exactly what will and won't be. I think you've done very well.
I definitely agree with Scorpio that it needs a boost of contrast/brightness ... the levels or curves tool in PS should do the trick well.

Looks great with the black background? Is this the one you mentioned you used the flash with? Looks like it from the shadows and therefore is very well done.

Yes, this is the shot that was taken with a flash. I took everyone's great advise and played with the contrast and here's the result.

Welcome to the forum and your off to the races, the second image is greatly improved. You should try your 90 as a portrait lens, I use mine routinely for them.
