I assume this is a type of Sparrow
It has been in my feeder for a few weeks now.
Finally got a picture of it.

Nice capture. These little fellows often move so fast. Maybe it's a House Finch (http://www.surfbirds.com/namericanbirds/sparrows-finches.html)?

Beautiful with it's red breast. And I would say, that Iguanasan is right with his identification.

Cool shot, Fred! I saw a pair of these on the roof overhang at the Club a few days ago. At first I thought they were petite sparrows but then I saw the red cap on the male and took a closer look. Very sweet little birdies.

Not a bird we see over here ... certainly has Sparrow colouring excluding that red but that beak screams Finch. Maybe a Sparrow and a Finch did the horizontal mambo one day and that's their love child??

Nice capture of what has already been correctly ID'd as a House Finch Fred. Closely resembles the Purple Finch but has less colouring throughout the body and a brown skull-cap.

Thankyou all for the comments.
Yes, as per Iguanasan a House Finch.
