April is just around the corner and we need to start thinking of some ideas.
Black and White is an idea (or did we do that already?)
Street/Urban photography
or should we go with an artistic theme?
Quite a few have posted flowers etc just starting to grow/break thru the surface. Maybe something along that theme (buds, flowers, and the like) since it is spring.
I have an idea (doesn't have to be April's assignment). Geometric shapes
examples
--2D - squares, rectangles, triangles. pentagons, etc
--3D - boxes, spheres, pyramids, etc.

Love it! +1 seems like a good one for the regular assignment.
Please feel free to suggest level 2 assignment ideas here as well.
Here's a level 2 suggestion - Creative underexposure.
Feel free to suggest new ideas or support ideas thrown out here. Whatever ideas have the most support before april 1 become the challenge of the month.
Geometric shapes sounds interesting to me, too.
I'm on board for geometric shapes for the main assignment.
I thought of "Repeating Patterns" as well
I posted a thread prior to seeing this one with April level 2 ideas
They were "Rule of thirds" or "Foreground Interest" as seen here:
http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f34/april-level-2-assignment-ideas-14258.html#post100027
I like creative under exposure for the level 2 assignment as well.
Just copying your post here for ease casil.
thx - marko

Rule of Thirds - photos taken using the "rule of thirds" for composition.
or.....
Foreground interest - Using foreground interest to add depth to the image.
all additional ideas for main and level 2 assignment should be posted today.
Thx - Marko

How about starting off with a circle. I'll try to find one a little further from my front door as well.

excellent additions everyone. Michael I see you have your toys out again, lol.
Here's mine. I shot it the end of march but it was the shape that drew me to it so I'm posting it here.

I went back to a pic previously posted of a stained glass shop in the city. I tried to bring up the colour a bit more. It fits well with the theme I think...circles, squares, triangles, you name it!
I also stopped and took a pic of one of several old bridges around the city. Triangles all around.

Yep, those fit. Here's my quick and dirty - since I have to prep for a game tomorrow I didn't have a lot of time to get it sharper. (Yeah, I'm one of those)

If you look just under the coffee time block there are a couple of people standing on a balcony. So I think somebody lives there.

Here's my version, I love this bridge for all the shapes, this couple had stopped here in Cochrane to look at the Ice flo buildup, it was amazing and they volunteered to be in the pic.

Long time lurker here. Actually just listen to the podcast at work. Here is my submission. A local church, I thought that triangle sticking out was kinda cool.

Well, JonnyHotshoe. That's a nice addition to geometric shapes... good spotting the triangle. Now that you've broken the barrier you'll have to post some more and let us see your little piece of the world :) Welcome to the forums! :)

The shape I'm going for is a oval, that's a geometric shape right?

I looked up geometry in the dictionary:
ge·om·e·try/jēˈämitrē/Noun
1. The branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensional analogs
Plus I'm learning grade 9 geometry along with my daughter. None of which qualifies me as an expert, so I hope my submissions are considered "geometric shapes". Sometimes they just seem symmetrical and/or repetitive.

That's a cool shot, SAD. Texture of the water and texture of the posts makes it hard to tell where one begins and the other ends. Geometric? Absolutely. Mike
