Well I tried every trick at my disposal to get a good light pattern for this one but I can see I'm going to need more stuff!

Yes I was so focused on the light I forgot to dust the table :wall-an:

a step in the right direction. :)
I like where you are trying to go with this. These shots are difficult with out the right lights.

These are difficult and this is some good play. I dig the lighting on the wine glass's stem.

I like the one without the candle but it seems a bit tight on the left.
I like the background in all of them.
But it can't have been a waste of time since you have that lovely glass of wine.

What Bambi said :)
I like your strip of light up the bottle.

I really don't mind the candle at all. Only thing is: I would have arranged the three objects in less of a linear position. Maybe move the candle back a good 6-8 inches, and close the gap between the bottle and the glass. Turn the candle and the bottle so that the design on the candle and the label of the bottle are not "straight on"; this would add a little drama to the image. As far as the light is concerned: for me it's fine, only thing is the reflections in the glass and the bottle. If you could shield the reflections somehow, you'd have more even light and voila....

Thanks for the input Matt. It was an exercise in lighting with little or no thought given to composition. Lighting glass for me is a Beeeaaaatttch! Having said that, I should have posted this in the critique section:laughing: Wish I could afford a small studio and some soft boxes but alas I have to creatively hang old bed sheets off coat racks and I always run out of bed sheets and coat racks:wall-an: One day I'll nail it
