This a team of Canadian Horses. They were developed primarily in Quebec and are known for their hardiness and flexibility- they could be used to plow, drive and ride. In the winter they would be turned loose to fend for themselves and then gathered back in the spring. More info is here:

At Ross Farm they use them for the farm work and also breed them. They give sleigh rides in the winter and I have to say it was a lot of fun!
