Somewhat inspired by Michaelaw's post that went off topic a bit. What movies have you watched lately? Are you a cult fan or an aficionado of the arty movie? Horror? Syrupy romances? Did the Academy Award announcements make you apoplectic or did you nod knowingly in agreement?

Ok. Here is what I have recently watched and on Netflix.

Bubba Ho Tep 2002

This movie stars Bruce Campbell of cult movie fame (Army of Darkness and The Evil Dead) series. The premise of the movie is that having switched places with an impersonator some 20 plus years before Elvis is alive and living in an old folks home. It is played mostly straightish and sympathetically by Campbell who is known for his over the top performances in the Evil Dead movies. A rather well done B movie. It has as much to say about how the elderly are treated as the horror story that encompasses the plot.

I reccommend this movie for anyone with eclectic tastes, fans of Bruce Campbell and the "King" and anyone else looking for a different sort of movie experience.

Hmmm... movies... I'm a bit of a movie fan and I'm signed up for Netflix, Movie Network, and other numerous movie stations plus I have a fairly extensive DVD/Bluray collection.

I've seen Bubba Ho Tep and enjoyed it immensely so I'm not sure what that says about me :)

Other recent watches within the last week.

The Karate Kid (2010) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1155076/)
Blade (1998) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120611/)
Enter the Dragon (1973) - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070034/)

Watched 'Serving Sara' recently ... enjoyed that. But working so much lately it doesn't take much to amuse me .... although ... tried to watch 'Animal House' yesterday ... loved it when it came out ... got bored within 10 mins yesterday and turned it off! Man we accepted bad acting and crap story lines back then! Shoulda looked for 'Porkies' ... at least there's boob in Porkies! ;)

You think that one is bad you should try to go back to the old Kung Fu TV series or Starsky and Hutch. OMG they are absolutely horrible. Our expectations have certainly been raised quite a bit over the years.

Lately the idiot box has been very insulting. I kinda like the new series with William H Macey , I watch anything to do with government sponsored shows about nature and have been watching all the old 1930's& 40's movies looking at lighting techniques ( i'm waiting for a lighting kit shipping via UPS).

Indeed, since Firefly was taken off, TV is just TV anymore and not worth getting emotionally involved with. Documentaries and old B&W movies are always a good bet and, frankly, a better choice.

Have been watching the series "Merlin" on Netflix as well as the British comedy, "Chef" from the early nineties. Merlin is a great take on the Arthur legends with lush sets and great costuming. Chef is sarcastic, rude, condescending and egotistical. I love it!

A film by Banksy, the renowned British graffiti artist. A fascinating look at street art and some of its more well known practitioners but really the story of one Thierry Guetta who follows them around taking hours and hours of film footage of their exploits. Surprising turns of development and questions of the legitimacy of art itself arise. A well made compelling, humorous and entertaining film. Well worth a look.

weird. I just watched that movie Sunday on Netflix. It started out one way and ended up in a completely different place. Guetta is a piece of work.

I haven't. we cut our cable down and I don't think we get BBC anymore. maybe Netflix will have it.
