Often when one visits a tourist attraction it is impossible to get a clear shot. I have used multi shots and selected and removed unwanted people then merged again but it is very time consuming.
I noted in Photoshop there are smart objects and in the stack one is suppose to be able to remove anything that has moved automatic.
However both with MAC and PC I have tried the "Stack" option is greyed out. Has anyone used this and any idea why I can't get it to work?

could it be related to the colour depth of the image? some of the plugins won't work until you convert to 8 bit.

I would imagine the easiest way is to buy a dark neutral density filter, turn the iso on lowest, and do a really long exposure. The people wont be registered but since the building doesn't move it will turn out clear and with no people.

I tried this method with an old film SLR and two polarising (linear) rotated to reduce light to required amount and with a tripod on the rows in Chester it did work apart from two Policeman who did not move.
But also used stack and to work in layers select layer from background or load into layers from Bridge. You need to select all layers then go to Auto align layers and once that is complete auto blend layers then select stack. However not always works at first attempt and I have needed to manually select which bit of each layer I want then repeat the auto blend layers.
Main thing no layers set as background and more than one layer selected. Hope that helps.
Ups just realised it was my post! I have moved on since then. But thanks anyway.
