neat shots C. At first I thought that there were dust spots but then I realized it was my monitor :)
But I have to complain that I will now have that song in my head all day!:wall-an:

Thanks B and sorry about the ruminating song...it was the title that first came to me (generally how I title all my shots btw) when I saw it after processing. If it's any consolation the song has been stuck in my head too since I worked on it!

Ah Tom Waits...one of my favorite cats on a fence.
I like the freight train aspect contrasted with the high rise, business-y buildings. Terrific exposure.

Thanks...it's a 5 shot HDR....I know you aren't a fan of HDR but it was the only way to get the shadows and highlights exposed here. I personally prefer HDR to not look too much like HDR so good to know I believe I succeeded... :)

You did, girl. I wish everyone did them that way.

Excellent processing. HDR is not supposed to "look like HDR" ;) Though when you are creating art you can do whatever the heck you want ;) I prefer the natural look of this wonderful image.

Thanks Ig and WD.
Some people like the processed look of HDR as an art form. I prefer to make it look as little like it is an HDR as possible but that's only my preference and I've seen some really beautiful HDR shots that are on the more "extreme end" of processing also. :)

My translation of HDR is Human Dynamic Range, meaning to emulate the human eye/brain combo. The one type of scene that tempts me into HDR is a sunlit forest path - sunny in the canopy, shady on the ground. My eyes see it perfectly without harsh glare or shadows to squint into. My camera unfortunately will produce both depending on exposure. So I'm tempted, but don't have the first idea where to start. I'm a Lightroom user and I don't know if that has the capability for tone mapping or whatever. And I'm lazy. So there's that, too.

I use photomatrix for processing. You can give it a trial run here if you like.
HDR photo software & plugin for Lightroom, Aperture & Photoshop - Tone Mapping, Exposure Fusion & HDR Imaging for photography (http://www.hdrsoft.com/)
When I do it, I find that taking 5 shots at 1/3 exposures seem to work best for me. If you have autobracketing on your SLR just switch it over to that, and after you transfer over to the computer just run the program, load the images into photomatrix and let the program do the work. You would like photomatrix...there's sliders to play with!!!! :highfive:
I'm lazy too so I don't muck around with my HDR's too much if they don't look right coming out of Photomatrix, I cull them as I'm not one to work on something to death.
Here's a tutortail on HDR if interested also:

I love that area between 10th and 9th Ave. You can’t say ether side is the wrong side of the tracks. There is lots of opportunity around that area of town. I think its time for a walk. Nice photo.

Wow. I must have been living in isolation. I don't think I've ever heard that song.
Oh well, doesn't matter, I still like the photo.

Nice one Casil. Even though am not an HDR fan, this one, as others have said, is quite mild and does the scene justice. Well done.
