So there's a story with this one. Bear with me.

My mom has this neighbor who isn't quite right. She's probably a hoarder and has a few old junkers in the yard that don't run. Instead of getting one running she walks to work. No big deal, right? It's just to Macy's down the road, maybe 5 miles. Later we found out it wasn't that Macy's but the one in the Mall. Across the river. How the hell does she get there? The main bridge near her is a highway. No pedestrians. Given a bit more thought we figured she must use this other bridge -

Her total one way trip has to be 10 miles. Many times she's seen walking the busy roads in the dark, wearing black. She takes no steps toward safety at all. It's really weird. But it made me go look for this bridge that I've only driven by 1000s of times.

A few years ago you could still drive across it. Sure it was illegal, but it would save you a ton of time since there are no other bridges along this stretch of the river. But then a bunch of a$$holes ruined it for everyone by dumping stolen cars off it and the authorities blocked access after that.

You can still walk over it though, a fact I'm sure the Macy's lady appreciates, although why she doesn't get a job in the other store on her side of the river is beyond me. Ah well.

Love the perspectives of 2 and 3 here ..WD....and the treatment so works also with the gritty B&W.....sweet stuff.

Thanks guys. The last one is my favorite. I love the geometry of it. B&W reinforces it well...I'm glad you think so, too. I did take some shots of the river itself and the trees, too. That's where the color was.

Thanks Ed. Once I got onto the bridge and noticed how oddly (and dramatically to this photographer's eye) the thing was actually built, I got jazzed by the possibilities. I'll probably shoot it again. Winter will be a challenge.

A cool yet bizarre story, Wicked. Cool photos as well. It should make for some interesting winter shots. Gosh, it must take that lady 2 to three hours to get to work and back.
