Can I do anything to fix the white shirt?

I took this pic last weekend at a wedding. It was 1 in the afternoon and BRIGHT! I moved the kids into the shade for this shot but the glare off the boys shirt is hurting my eyes is there something I can do to lessen it. I have played around alot with this photo already and this is the best i could get.
P.S the little cutie on the left is my daughter Zealah.

Maybe someone else has something to offer but I'd say your done. If you don't have the original detail in the image due to overexposure you can't magically add it somehow unless you are amazing with photoshop. That being said it's far from a loss. It's still a fairly decent image.

Agreed, this is toast as a perfect image. Next time expose for the whites, not the overall scene. It will preserve the detail and you can certainly work with a darker image than a blown one.

I like the pose and the grouping though I wish the flower girl's pail wasn't cut off.

I agree that the blown out area is gone for good unless someone with very good photoshop skills wants to spend a very long time trying to fix it. Even then ...

However, blown out whites are quite common in monochrome type shots so converting to a sepia was a good move and makes this acceptable I think. For me the shirt isn't as much an issue as the middle girls shoulder.

To expose for those whites next time, either shoot in manual and make sure you set the aperture for the whites OR if using a mode like aperture priority, read up and use the Exposure Compensation.

If this were mine I'd make sure the faces and eyes are nice and sharp and accept it as is.

Thanks for the input guys, last weekend was the first time using a DSLR so i really had no idea what i was doing i was just playing around with the settings and hoping for the best. I have learned an incredible amount in a week , and LOVE this new camera.

they are all right. there is no detail in the whites. sugest expose for the whites or do some bracketing.

Just tried a 2 min clone on adding the cropped bottom back in. I'm Sure you could do better with a higher res image and bit more time. (Although my preferred route is get as much right in camera as possible).

I would just like to add that although the blown whites are less of a distraction to my eye as well when printed in sepia, still, obviously, we want to avoid this through proper exposure.
