Goodness, has half of Canada been invaded by cranes?!? I like the way the gate frames the crane.

Almost a framed dichotomy of old vs new going on here. In all honesty I was not a big fan at first but I have to say it keeps growing on me more and more each time I look at it B. :)

It's the "Fire" that is trying to consume the crane what makes this image such a winner. Bambi, you are outdoing yourself of late!

I see it as a view from the old, protected, gardened area of Victorian sensibilities (Which pretty much closed its eyes to the vagaries and ugliness of industry) looking out onto the realities of the modern world with its sharp bold lines and in your face attitudes. As far as cranes "ruining" a city vista? I do not mind them as much as others seem to. I actually find them colourful and interesting looking.
Cool capture, Bambi with that ornate fence acting as a border for something most people regard as ugly!

thanks everyone. I am glad that it's growing on you Casil. It might just be your Christmas Present :p, :D, lol
I don't mind cranes in a shot. For this one, it was required, IMO. I did a colour version of this shot as well but the b&w seemed more powerful. It was the dichotomy that caught my attention so glad it came through :goodvibes

I was going to say something very similar but JAS has said it much better than I could. Basically I felt as though the ugly, industrial world was shut out from a garden of paradise.
excellent composition and perspective - wonderfully made

Wonderful juxtaposition! JAS summed it up really well though my thick brain hadn't seen it that way until it was said and then it hit me! Excellent interpretation. Excellent vision, Bambi.
