Hi! I have not posted anything for a while.

This is our local landmark, Clevedon Pier.

Not sure if these work, comments welcome.

What a nice place to take pictures Taffy! I think these look good, but my :twocents: would be to consider cutting some of the foreground off and make the frame more panoramic. I like the rocks on the beach but love the pier structure, so I would put greater emphasis on that. Ideally for me (but then what do I know..?) would be to try re-take the pier no2 photo and crop the bottom half out for the panoramic effect, but try to back if off just a bit in order to get a bit of the brick structure on the land side of the pier into the frame as well for some added texture. The no3 shot seems to be a bit better lit though on the pier and I like the sunset colors in the background on that one. So many ways you can work with this one though so I am sure someone else would see it completely differently. ;)

What he said. I also would make the pier the main subject. Sometimes we try to get a foreground in jsut so we have a foreground. I don't think this needs a foregrounmd, and I am sure some cropping would do wonders for the image :twocents:

It looks like your exposure is pretty good and things seem to be pretty much in focus but I agree with the others that the composition needs a little work. Google "Rule of Thirds" and think about it the next time you shoot. It's not a hard and fast rule but I think it may have helped here.

In the first one there is too much foreground as the subject is the pier. Ideally it should have likely been stretched across what would be the bottom "third line" with a little more sky. Those clouds with the sun poking through would have looked awesome.

The second one places the end of the pier too close to the outside edge of the image and makes it look boxed in.

I just looked at No 1 (in your other thread) and pretty much gave advice that would have resulted in these photos. Good job :)

I really like #3 in your series, Taffy. The rocks and brick structure really add nice texture. The bridge and sloping hill leads our eyes out to the pier and setting sun. I like the colour palette here as well. Quite lovely.
