So I know that I am repeating myself in my photo subjects but I am finding it interesting to return to the same subject and try a different angle or perspective. In this one I took 3 images at 1.7 steps and then merged with Photomatix. A wee bit of PP after and here it is.

The exposure and clouds are way cool and it's a fine job.:thumbup::thumbup: I don't mind seeing different aspects of the same subject. I forget easily enough what I saw before that it's like looking at something new anyway. :)

Like I said on flickr, this is a great subject and very crispy in its texture. I would like to see a tad more 'breathing space' around it though and the sky does throw me. The processing artificiality is so tentative as to be slightly disturbing. Either dial it down or go whole hog is my philosophy, but maybe not in line with your vision so take it with a grain of salt.

I really, really like this. If it were me, I would frame it an post it on a wall. My only one little tiny niggle (and I mean tiny) is that I wouldn't have cut off the log stack to the left and would have included all of it. Other than that, it is a gorgeous shot and very well done. Love the processing as it suits the mood of the image IMO. :)

I see what WD is saying re: the sky. The PP has affected the sky in a similar manner as the barn. Both are very dramatic, but the sky seems to stealing the show a bit here and the shot is not really about the sky in this case, imo.

still, at this point it's all just personal flavour, and you could easily slap a frame on it as is.

thanks for all the feedback! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I had to cut off the woodshed because of an ugly container thingy right there. But I did a rework and toned down the sky:

Don't you hate that?? On some of the Neilson farm battle ground shots I had to eclipse a few plastic tarp covered woodpiles in the scenes. Bleah.

I like the sky treatment better here. The building no longer looks as if it's floating against a CGI green screen. : )

It's a nice shot Bambi.

I'd have ...
Gone for a bit more space around the building if possible,
Dodged the sky a bit around the building to feather out that HDR halo,
Maybe layered one of the original shots under this and blended it through along the roof line to get a sharper edge,
Gone for more or less saturation.

okay last version. I opened up the space as much as possible, did my best to get rid of the halo (yikes that was a job and a half), sharpened the edges and masked them in and toned down the saturation a wee bit.

No one said perfection was quick and easy ;)

More practice needed there but you are improving all the time with your processing. You must be seeing that!

I like seeing the rest of the wood shed in this considering things like the hose, the little blue container doesn't really spoil anything.

With all the textures here this is a good candidate for a B&W I reckon.
