I invited Eric out to photograph him because of his wonderful body art - all of it done with great contemplation and meaning. He is my first (and so far only) person that I have used as a model. He was most gracious and patient.

TT,

Normally it's better just to post 1 or 2 per thread - you'll get fuller responses ;)

My main concern here is the eyes. They do not look sharp enough in any of the photos. Tack sharp focus on the eyes in normally a must. Also the eyes are too dark in almost every shot. Normally you want the colour of the iris to come out. This helps a portrait to sing.

I think I like the bare chested shot the best though it's looking a bit red on my screen.

Marko - thanks for the feed back! :) With an auto focus lens, how does one make the eyes sharp? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! I have a Canon 5d - I think I used the 75-300mm (is that a size?) lens. I have not used this camera very much and need all the help I can get! I bought and read the Lantern Guide to the 5d, but with my memory issues, I will do better with trial and error. Again, thanks for taking the time to help me/us!

Worked on the skin tone and eyes.... the dark circles under the eyes - I played with but did not like it - looked like an albino raccoon:rolleyes:

I like your fix TT. The eyes are showing a bit of artifacting from the sharpening, but it's better.It's always recommended to get it right in camera though....and the results are usually cleaner. Colour balanceon the model's skin looks off though (looks bluish to me).

In terms of the focus. Try making sure one of the focal sensors is on the eye closest to the camera. It's hard and it's why I use manual focus 95% of the time when shooting 1 on 1 portraits.
