Common Mergansers

This pair was really quite tolerant of me and the camera which is uncommon. I got off a lot of shots before leaving them be.
Beautiful birds they are.... :)

Added bonus...sure sign of spring when these guys start popping their heads out!
I had to crawl on my belly to get a fairly close shot. He popped in his hole but kept sticking his head out to watch me....lol.

What is the furry guy at the bottom? Gopher?

Yup it's a gopher...they hibernate underground in winter...when the weather warms they start poking their head out. Nice to see them yesterday. And thanks for the comments MA! :)

well I totally missed the typo but love the ducks and the gopher is cute :)

Cool looking ducks with some interesting colours. I really like #1 and #3 too. Maybe I'm not very well versed in NS wildlife but you seem to have more variety than we do. It's probably more likely that I just don't have a clue about what's in my own backyard ;)

I just caught spring fever, seeing a Calgary gopher. Happens every year, either a gopher or a robin. The mergansers are very pretty. I even know that the other kind of merganser is the hooded merganser. Nice work and thanks.
