wow such cool looking wildlife! - I love the neat look of the first shot. Is that an ostrich?
Yes it's a male Ostrich
I was going to post this one in a thrad of it's own when I realised it qualified for this thread seeing as the subjects were all looking at me ...

Not a great shot but might be interesting to you Canucks, Yanks and Poms ;)
I took this 2 weeks ago about 10 mins drive from home.
Here's another one that I think meets both themes developing here. Another inhabitant of the Australian bush keeping an eye on you. It's actually from my garden. He or she visits every summer.
Cool Greg ... what sort of python is that one?
That's one critter I won't be using a wide angle lens on ;)
A few more critters giving me the eye!

And one specially for our mate JJ with the deer fetish ;)

Ah a Diamond Python ... cool. We mostly get Carpet and Bush Pythons this way.
I do have loads of photos of animals ... I like wildlife.
Dug through and found some more animals that fit my theme ...
Firstly ... I think might be Gem's horse?? ;)

One of our wild camels. Australia has the worlds largest pure population of camels apparently.

I love your birds but I do not think i could handle pythons in my garden. No.
Not all of us get to share that experience anyhow Raiven :)
I've never had a python in my backyard. But a mate did about 3 months ago and another friend did about 1 month ago so it's not uncommon if you live next to bushland. I don't.
I have the python in the garden during summer. We also have a fairly regular 'red belly black snake'. They're poisionous, but pretty timid snakes. Brown snakes are the ones to watch out for here, but we don't see them often. They tend to stay down more toward the creek. I'm not a great snake lover, but you do get used to sharing the space. They do their bit keeping pests down.
Living on the edge of the bush, we have strange visitors at times. We've had deer, wallabies, many types of lizards.
Roo's like staring at you
