I'm not sure of the variety here but I shot him through a rolled down passenger window because I've found they will pay only limited attention to a car that stops beneath them but open the door and get out...Poof!

Beautiful capture of what is a Swainson's Hawk Michael. Very nicely done, I might add.
.....and yes I have found the vehicle makes an excellent blind many a time.
Indeed, they are very skiddish and know how to tease a photographer. We have trained them well ... very nice capture, nice sharp details.Quote:

Mike Drew, a local photographer for the Sun used to (maybe still does, I have not bought paper recently) have a two page spread in the Calgary Sun about his adventures driving in his truck along the back roads of Southern Alberta. He says the same thing as you about using the truck as a hide. I always thought he had one of the best jobs ever!
