Pelican
I've been to San Diego for work and just got back. I was able to get out in the evenings and take some pictures. On my first night I found these pelicans waiting for the fishermen to turn their backs. They were my first pelicans I've seen in person. He/she let me get quite close:

I wish I would have had more time to prepare but the fisherman caught me off guard throwing this bit at it:

Cool stuff! I guess those are the brown pelicans. Great sighting for sure.

really nice and sharp set, shot 2 has fantastic action, its a real shame about the wing crop.

Cool set Bambi - nice sharpness here!

Great timing on that 2nd shot!!
First pelican huh? Seems funny when I see them flying over our house quite often :)

thanks guys. I was happy with them but would have loved to have not cut off the wing :(
and yes-,my first - we don't have them here!

The pelicans are awesome. We have a small flock that stays in Calgary every summer. Most Calgarians don't even know they are here. There is a small flock that stays in St. Albert on Lacombe Lake where my mother lives as well.
